God’s Daily Word With Fr. Prosper Abotsi: THE HOLY SPIRIT (Mon 24 Jan 2022)

Must read

[2Sam 5:1-7,10/Psa 89:20-22,25-26/Mark 3:22-30]

Holy by nature and not made so, the Spirit is divine and the source of holiness for every creature. Nothing can thus be holy except through an infusion of the Holy Spirit.

Hence, to oppose the Holy Spirit is tantamount to a denial of what is holy or associated with holiness. It is the lack of access to holiness with a resultant inability to bear holy fruits.

This truth is made clear in Scripture, that good trees bear good fruits and bad trees bear bad fruits (cf. Mat 7:17-18). The fruit is judged by the nature of the tree.

Consequently, the catholic Christian church prioritizes the sacramental life nourished by the word of God, prayer and charity. It is the basis for a fruitful tree as the icon of the Mission Platform.

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God and the true Vine, enables his followers to be branches through the Holy Spirit so we remain in him and bear fruits (cf. Jn 15).

It is thus not true for some scribes to say that Jesus has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons (Gospel).

Such a comment and thinking can only be the result of jealousy and envy that pushed them to overtly deny what is holy.

It is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which Jesus describes as an eternal sin with guilt that has no forgiveness (ibid).

Let us strive to avoid blasphemy against the Holy Spirit by loving one another and staying away from jealousy and envy.
