The Yennyawoso District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu, has asserted that the prime aim for the coming of the Holy Spirit is to equip believers with power to evangelise the world.
He said this in his homely to climax the New Tafo Area Week celebration on Sunday, January 21, 2023, at the Yennyawoso Central Assembly auditorium.
Speaking on the topic: “Being Baptized By the Power of the Holy Spirit to Transform Your World,” Pastor Adubofourh Asiedu identified the various types of baptism, focusing on the Holy Spirit baptism.
According to him, Holy Spirit baptism is the enduement of power, authority and gifts to the believer to carry out the ministry and service of God.
Quoting copiously from the Scriptures, the Yennyawoso District Minister emphasised that it has been the desire of God to give His Spirit to man to do exploits since the inception of creation.
“Holy Spirit baptism is the promise of God,” he stated, adding, “The Spirit is given to the believer, basically to witness about Christ Jesus to the world.”
He, therefore, charged the congregants to make evangelism a lifestyle with the power of the Holy Spirit vested in them in their quest to transform their world.
The clergyman further highlighted other benefits of the Holy Spirit baptism, saying, “The Spirit enables the believer to walk in the statutes of God.”
He added: “Whoever has the Spirit of God has life.”
Pastor Maxwell Adubofourh Asiedu concluded his sermon with admonition to Christians to avoid lifestyles that could grieve and quench the Spirit.
The week-long event, which was held at the district level under the theme: “Unleashing A People of God through the Power of the Holy Spirit to Transform their World,” (1 Peter 2:9; Acts 1:8), saw 38 persons receiving Holy Spirit baptism with initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
