Must read

The Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has urged Priests who do not have Outstations to support Parishes that have as well as form Basic Christian Communities.

“If you are in a Parish and the structure is that you cannot have an outstation, support those who have outstations and help them grow them” he said at the 2025 Chrism Mass at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

He added: “If you cannot have an outstation, you can form what we call Basic Christian Communities in that area”.

The Archbishop entreated the over 200 Priests who attended the Chrism Mass to also invest in education and schools of their Parishes and grow the communities they find their parishes in.

“If you cannot have an outstation, you can invest in schools. If the schools are in your parish and there is no priest, you can invest in getting a school”, he said.

As part of the Sacred Liturgy, the Archbishop blessed the oils of the sick and catechumens and concentrated the oil of Chrism.

The Priests also renewed their Priestly vows pledging their obedience to the Archbishop and his successors.

The Archbishop advised Priests not to disappoint their lay faithful after renewing the vows.

He also cautioned those who are fond of watching television at the expense of their priestly duties, saying that there were many job opportunities for Priests in Parishes.

The Chief Shepherd who presided over the Chrism Mass attended by hundreds of lay faithful, extended gratitude to all Priests and Religious working in the Archdiocese, and the lay faithful for their presence and massive participation.

He also congratulated the seminarians of the Paul Catholic Seminary at Sowutuom for joining the Holy Spirit Cathedral choir to sing melodiously during the Mass.

A thought-provoking homily was delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Raymond R. Osei-Tutu, Chancellor of the Accra Archdiocese and Parish Priest of Ss. Anne and Joachim at Teshie.

Concelebrating the Mass included the Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and the Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishops of Accra.
