The International Movement of Catholic Students IMCS PAX ROMANA Ghana Federation under the auspices of the office of the Ladies Commission on Thursday, March 7, 2024 had a webinar session to mark the international women’s day on the theme “Pax Lady, your network, your networth”.
International Women’s Day (IWD) marked every year on March 8 is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.
The webinar saw seasoned facilitators like Mr. Aaron Fenu, the Chairman of Management Team of IMCS Africa and Sr. Gifty Anastasia Blewu, SMMC, a tutor in OLA Senior High School, Ho and a former Women’s Commissioner for Pax Romana Catholic University of Ghana, Fiapre, Sunyani Chapter.
Ms. Bernice Ataa Doria, the immediate past National Ladies Commissioner was the moderator of the webinar.
Members were curious to understand the challenges that come with networking and concrete scenarios were presented to throw more light on the discussion.
Mr. Fenu enlightened participants about what networking was all about and some do’s and don’ts in networking.
He said “networking is vital but not all network is important. Check those you connect with and if you see certain red flags, advise yourself and reconnect with the right people.”
In her submission, Sr. Blewu was very passionate about the stand of the Catholic Church in her social teachings.
Stating that the dignity of the human person cannot be underestimated, she called on Catholic youths to be particular about the worth of their networking, emphasizing “if it not of value, then it’s not worth it”.
The questioning session got very interactive as many were concerned about male and female relationships and their related issues. Mixed marriages in the church was extensively digested that our networking should make us patient and look out for positive relationships rather than regretful associations or partnerships.
All were very impressed about the discussion especially the men who appealed to the Ladies Commission to keep these discussions going so that the youth would be informed and make right networks.
