Must read

The Inter- Congregational Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation, Ghana (JPIC) held its Annual National Meeting in Kumasi under the theme: “Life and Dignity of the Human Person and the Rest of Creation: The Core Calling of JPIC”

The four-day meeting from February 22 to 25, 2024 took place at the Christian village in Kumasi with the President of JPIC, Ghana, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Aazine, SVD, and Rev Fr. Kpanie Addy, S.J as speakers.

According to both speakers, the protection of creation and peacemaking are interconnected and therefore recommended actions which would help address social issues in the country.

They further mentioned that social issues should be interpreted in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ so as to emulate Christ’s commitment to the poor.

Both speakers also encouraged JPIC Coordinators to keep every zone active by intensifying membership drive at zone levels and also including absent religious congregations and societies in zonal activities.

During the meeting, there were discussions about challenges facing the promotion of justice, peacemaking and the integrity of creation in Ghana.

Participants therefore called on the government and other stakeholders to take urgent action to address the challenges.

JPIC-Ghana is an inter-congregational union and a network of Missionaries and Religious men and women in Ghana who advocate, facilitate, and promote the social teachings of the Catholic Church on behalf of their respective Religious Institutes, for the advancement of justice, peace, and the care of God’s creation.

It was inspired and brought to birth by the Major Superiors at one of their Conferences in Rome around the year, 2008.
