Must read

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, has announced the commencement of the Jubilee Year for the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra to begin in December, 2024.
The period would aim to deepen faith and discipleship among the community, centered around the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: A Year of Discipleship which invites all to live out the adventurous virtues of being “pilgrims”, and not tourists in this world; to be agents and ministers of Hope, amidst the challenges and crises of our time.
The Jubilee celebrations will begin with two major events where  the Archdiocese will host “Conversations in the Cathedral”, On December 4, 2024, followed by the ceremonial Opening of the Holy Door on December 24, 2024.
Throughout the Jubilee, each month will focus on different groups and themes within the Archdiocese.
As part of the spiritual preparation leading up to the Jubilee, Archbishop Kwofie encourages all parishes to begin reciting the Jubilee Prayer during Post Communion starting November 3, 2024 until the Feast of Epiphany on January 6, 2026.
In his letter to the Priests, Religious and lay faithful dated October 17, 2024, Archbishop Kwofie expressed his hope that the Archdiocese will be richly blessed through collective efforts to live out the Gospel during this time of spiritual renewal. “Let us walk together as a community of faith, embracing this year as a time of spiritual renewal and grace,” he urged.
A Jubilee Year is a Sacred Year celebrated every 25 years as a “Year of God’s favor” as written in the Book of Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 61:1-4) and proclaimed by Jesus in Luke 4:18-19. It is a moment of grace, a “Kairos moment” of restoration and reconciliation (Leviticus 25:8-17).
It is also a prophetic moment during which everyone is called to “listen to the voice of the Lord” and witness to the Gospel values of justice, reconciliation, peace, and solidarity.
