Junior Youth Choir Inaugurated, Mass Servers Initiated at OLA Catholic Church

A 54-member Junior Youth Choir christened  “Cherubim” and twenty young boys and girls of the Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) Parish at New Achimota, Accra, manned by the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus, were inaugurated and initiated respectively into the Ministry of Singing and as Knights and Ladies of the Altar at separate ceremonies.

Inaugurating the Cherubim Jnr. Youth Choir on Monday, August 15, 2022, the feast day of the OLA Parish, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Gnaha, MCCJ, Assistant Parish Priest, urged the young choristers to be committed, dedicated and loyal to the aims objectives of the Choir.

He asked them to be prepared to uphold the good name of the choir by leading good and exemplary lives and advised them to cooperate with their executives at all times to promote peace love and unity among the entire membership of the Jnr. Youth Choir.

The young choristers with ages ranging between 13 and 17 years pledged to lead the congregation in singing every Sunday, and all days of obligation, as well as all activities in which the Choir might be involved. They promised also to avail themselves at all times, abide by the constitution and by-laws of the Choir; and to be good members of the Catholic Church.

As part of the inauguration, executives were inducted into office with an appeal to them to commit themselves to their duties and perform same with great dedication and loyalty.

Fr. Gnaha challenged them to uphold the good name of the Junior Youth Choir and be of good examples to the other members.

The executives were  Eureka Kusorgbor, President; Prince Anane, Vice President; Magdalene Avevor, Secretary; Kate Okumka, Financial Secretary; Theresa Abodakpi, Treasurer;   Emmanuel  Yao Okole,  Organizer; Precious Addo, Assistant Organizer; Maxine France, Adviser and Uriel Ezeh, Co-opted Member.

Young Eureka Kusorgbor thanked parishioners for their fatherly and motherly support that had made the long awaited dream of the Parish see the light of day.

“We are also grateful to all our Patrons especially those on whose shoulders we have journeyed this far,” she said, assuring that “we shall stay united and committed in our service to God and the Church.”

She solicited for advice, care, love and support from parishioners to enable them reach greater heights in dispensing their God given talents.

Initiating the Altar Servers on Sunday, August 21, 2022, Very Fr. Francisco Machado, MCCJ, Parish Priest, prayed to the Lord to fill them with His blessing and strengthen them for faithful service in His Church.

Admitting and installing them as full members of the Ministry of Knights and Ladies of the Altar, he also prayed that they would be faithful in the service at altar and grow always in faith and love to help in building up the church here on earth.

The 14 Knights and six Ladies promised to be close followers of Jesus Christ and be obedient to His representatives on earth, the Parish Priest, the Archbishop and the Holy Father, the Pope.

“We will especially try to help the Priest to make the church service worthy celebrations for the greater glory and honour of God,” they pledged.

With the help and intercession of Mary, they vowed to promote friendship and cooperation among themselves and do their best to promote prosperity and peace in the country.
