The St. Michael Co-Cathedral Church at Keta in the Catholic Diocese of Keta – Akatsi of Ghana’s Volta Region, has celebrated three-fold events on the Solemnity of Holy Trinity on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
The events were the Holy Trinity Solemnity, 134th anniversary of the Co-Cathedral and World Union of Catholic Women Organisation (WUCWO) Day.
Touching on the Solemnity, Rev Fr. Michael Elorm Gbordzor, the Administrator of the Co-Cathedral, asserted that no human being can fully understand the Holy Trinity but the message underpinning this mystery is the unity of the three Persons in God-the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
He said the Trinity is present in the Church and must be seen in the life of all Christians.
Speaking on the 134th anniversary of the beginning of the Catholic Church in Keta, Fr. Gbordzor, exhorted the congregation to seek God and have faith in Him.
He added that, the first Missionaries, Rev. Frs. Jean Batiste Thuet, SMA and Michael Wade, SMA, who brought the faith and sowed the seed, first in Keta, worked hard to see it grow.
He urged the faithful to emulate the lives of the early missionaries in the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Touching on the WUCCWO Day celebration, Fr. Gbordzor challenged the members in Keta to bring up their children in the fear of God, urging the women to be vibrant in the Church and execute their duties diligently.
“I want to see a vibrant women organisation,” he said at a meeting with some delegates from the executive of the Women Council, prior to the celebration of WUCWO Day.
May 26 is WUCWO Day and as a way of marking the event, St. Michael Co- Cathedral women had a week-long celebration which involved rosary prayers, talks and health walk.
Some of the topics were “Domestic Violence”, “the Role of Women in Peace building” and “Regenerative Health.”
Present at the celebration was Rev. Fr. Pascal Selormey, the Associate Priest of Immaculate Conception Parish, Agbozume who concelebrated the Mass with Fr. Gbordzor.
