The Supreme Subordinate Commandery and Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John
International (KSJI) have paid a courtesy visit to the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski.
Maj-Gen. Peter C. N. Sangber-Dery, the Supreme Subordinate President of Ghana who led the team to the Nuncio’s residence last week said the purpose of the visit is a fulfillment of their word to His Excellency Most Rev. Jagodzinski on the 15th of October last year at his welcome Mass.
He added that the move was also to formally welcome the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana as a society of the Church and also to indicate their willingness to assist the Nunciature.
Maj. Gen. Sangber-Dery gave a brief history about the society since its formation in May 1886 in
the USA and its introduction in West Africa through Ghana in 1937. He added that KSJI is a
charitable society both to the Church and the needy.
He further went on to state that “there are 7 Grand Commanderies and Grand Ladies Auxiliary in Ghana, namely; the Accra West, Accra East, Cape Coast, Koforidua-Ho, Kumasi, Tamale and Wa constituting a membership of about 18,000 including the Cadets and Juniors Auxiliary.
His Excellency Most Rev. Jagodzinski had an interactive session with the team and inquired about their qualification of membership. They both inquired about each other’s challenges thus the Nunciature and KSJI.
The team consisting of Maj. Gen. Peter C. N. Sangber-Dery, the Supreme Subordinate President, Maj. Gen. (Sir) Dennis Adjei, Past Supreme Subordinate President, Brig. Gen. William Adjei, Supreme Subordinate 1st Vice President, Brig. Gen. Lawrence Lartey, Supreme Subordinate Secretary, Brig. Gen. Joe Ben Dawaare, Supreme Subordinate Treasurer.
From the sisters were, N/S. Eugenia Enyimayew, Supreme Subordinate Ladies Auxiliary President, N/S. Justine Dadzie, Supreme Subordinate Ladies Auxiliary Past President, N/S. Aisha Armah, Supreme Subordinate Ladies Auxiliary Secretary, N/S. Belinda Dogbatse, Accra East Ladies Auxiliary Grand President and N/S Petrina Coker, Accra West Ladies Auxiliary Grand President. In all a total of 10 members.
The team presented a framed photograph of Maj. Gen. Peter C. N. Sangber-Dery and N/S. Eugenia Ekua Enyimayew with His Excellency Most Rev. Jagodzinski in the middle to the Apostolic Nuncio.
The Nuncio after the session showed appreciation to the team and took them to the Nunciature Chapel for a short prayer and blessing.
