Must read

In connection with the 2025 Jubilee year celebration of Consecrated Men and Women in Ghana, the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana (CMSR-GH) has embarked on a nationwide Candle light procession on June 15, 2024 to remind Ghanaians about the importance to keep and protect the Erath.

In Kumasi, the Candle light procession, began at the St. Peter’s Minor Basilica with a brief talk by Msgr. Gabriel Acheampong, the Rector of the Minor Basilica.

He informed the Religious that, celebration of every jubilee offers an opportunity to see the face of God, to reconcile with Him, and to renew ourselves in the Lord for a deeper strength to do batter in the years ahead.

He said the theme for the celebration given by Pope Francise “Send forth your Spirit and Renew the Face of the earth” Psalm 104:3. is an invitation to all to participate fully in this jubilee.

This is why the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious-Ghana has organized the candle light procession to make it easer for all to take part in our own little ways.

According to Msgr. Acheampong Mother earth and nature provides everything for us humanity but we have decided to destroy it, by cutting down of trees without replanting it, destroying our water bodies with Galamsey, and throwing plastics around to mention but a few.

The Mother Earth, he intimated is crying to us to pay attention to her by putting a stop to all this bad behaviour by protecting Mother Earth and nature for it to become a place to live and a continuity for future generation.

This is a plea to all and we must become ambassadors at our work places and wherever we find ourselves, Msgr. Acheampong noted

He congratulated the Religious in Kumasi as they embarked on a procession to educate the people in Kumasi to change their attitude towards Mother Earth for the earth to become a better place to live.

The Religious Men and Women walked in the rain with their placards with different write up like: “More plants Less Plastics, “what we stand for is what we stand on,” “there is no Planet B” and many others.

In attendance were, the Vicar for Priest and Religious of the Kumasi Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Stephen Kofi Jantuah;  Daughters of the Most Holy Trinity (FST), Sisters of St. Louis (SSL), Spiritans, (SSPs), Sisters of St. Josephe of Cluny, Marist Brothers of School, Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters (IHM), Missionary of Charity Sisters (MC), Daughters of Charity of Sisters (DC), Dominican Fathers (OP), Daughters of St. Paul, Oblate Sisters, Carmelite Mary Immaculate Fathers (CMI) and Some few lay faithful.
