The Martyrs of Uganda Parish at Bole in the Damongo Diocese of Ghana’s Savannah Region, has marked Pentecost Sunday with the commissioning of some Catholics who have gone through the Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS).

As directed by His Holiness Pope Francis, every Catholic is recommended to go through LSS for effective evangelisation and personal touch with the Master Jesus. This was mark with the birth of the Church.

The Liturgical Committee of Martyrs of Uganda Church and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Parish organised the LSS for her members especially the “neophytes” to receive the Holy Spirit for evangelisation.

The newly baptized are called “neophytes,” from the Greek words meaning “new plant,” because the faith has been newly planted in them. Even though their catechetical preparation has been completed, they still have much to learn about what it means to live as Catholic Christians.

This preceded with a 5-day preparation led by a team from the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province. Talks were delivered each day with focus on the reception of the Holy Spirit and climaxing on Pentecost Sunday.

The Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Lazarus Angyereh presided over the celebration during which he commissioned the participants to be preachers of the gospel.

In his sermon, he entreated the faithful to be fearless in their Christian calling and see themselves as being sent by God to win souls for the Kingdom.

According to Fr. Angyereh, they can effectively do this by working together for one goal by going beyond their selfish interest and showing love and care to those around them.

The participants for the LSS were presented with the Holy Bible and a cross for the work.
