All is set for the maiden Annual General Meeting of the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers Union (MELPWU) at Ex-Tee Crystal Hotel in Bolgatanga – Upper East Region from October 12 to October 13, 2021.
The two-day programme which will also see launching of the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers’ Union on October 13, 2021 is on the theme “Building a Vibrant Trade Union, Mobilizing
for a Real Deal”.
The Chief Labour Officer, Mr. Eugene Narh Korletey and CEO of Gamey and Gamey Group, Mr. Austin Gamey are scheduled to participate as Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker respectively.
Mandate of the AGM is to update members on current state of affairs in the union and also promote
transparency, probity and accountability in the union.
The AGM gives opportunity to members to ask
substantial questions and get relevant answers from leadership during the meeting.
The 2021 AGM in Bolgatanga is the first of its kind in the annals of the Union and all members are encouraged to get involved especially at a time that structures of the Union are being formed.
“Due to the prevailing COVID19 pandemic coupled with its social distancing protocols, work schedule
and unforeseen circumstances, we are unsure if all our three thousand membership will be physically
present,” a Statement signed by the General Secretary of the Union, Mr. Cephas Akortor said.
“Thus, provision has been made for virtual participation and members who may not be able to attend the AGM can follow the event on virtual platforms and send their questions and/or suggestions to leadership of the Union via melpwugh@gmail.com,” the statement further stated
