Make Welfare of the Masses Priority of Ghana’s Leadership – Methodist Minister

Must read

A Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana (MCG) has appealed to the government to be steadfast in addressing the needs of Ghanaians.

“Governance is about the welfare of the people,” the Very Reverend Solomon Bruce, in-charge of the Old Tafo Circuit, MCG, stated.

“Our state resources ought to be utilised effectively for the benefit of all. A society where only a few people enjoy the national cake nurtures a feeling of resentment and neglect amongst the masses.”

That was inimical to social cohesion and advancement of the nation’s development aspirations, he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Old Tafo in the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area.

This was on the sidelines of a Watch-night service, organised by the Church to usher in the New Year – 2022.

Rev. Bruce said Ghanaians should ensure that the New Year brought in renewed commitment to the nation’s development agenda.

“What we need as a people is an attitudinal change. Without this, we will continue to commit the same blunder responsible for our slow pace of development over the years,” the Superintendent Minister said.

He used the occasion to advice the nation to take a strong stance against same sex marriage and other unhealthy practices likely to debase the rich cultural norms and values of Ghanaians.

“We should not be compelled by poverty to blindly follow the abominable practices by some people in other parts of the world,” Very Rev. Bruce cautioned.

He appealed to politicians to demonstrate patriotism in their line of duty to bring accelerated growth to the society.
