The new leadership of the Laity Council in the Mamprobi Deanery of the Accra Archdiocese was inducted into office for a 2 year term.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Parish, Derby Avenue in Accra, after the newly elected executives were led in a recollection a day before by Rev. Fr. Paul Atidoh, Assistant Priest of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Dansoman.
The recollection was on the theme: “CALLED TO SERVE: RENEWING OUR SPIRIT FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP”.
In the Mass for the Induction, which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Obodai Torgbor, the Deanery Laity Chaplain, the new executive, took the oath of office, after which they were prayed over and introduced to the congregation.
The executives are Mr. Francis Ackon, Chairman; Ms. Genevieve Amuzu, Vice Person; Mr. Edward Ayem, Secretary; Mr. Solomon Zon, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Evans Hokey, Financial Secretary; Mr. Richmond Fiifi Mensah, Youth Representative; Mr. Ato Austin Mensah and Mr. Elorm Dzidzienyo as Ex-officios.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Francis Ackon expressed gratitude to God and the Councillors who elected him.
He pledged to work hard to increase Laity participation in activities of the Church as well as promote spiritual growth of the Laity.
He also promised to improve the education of the Laity on the teachings of the Church.
Present at the Mass was the former Archdiocesan Laity Council Chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. Quaye Foli, who was also the homilist.
