As part of precautionary measures to fight the COVID-19, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly in Ghana’s capital has announced steps to be taken steps to disinfect all markets in Accra on Monday, March 23, 2020.
The Assembly’s action is to cease the spread of the viral disease and also in-line with the directives from the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
The Assembly together with the Greater Accra Market Association will work hand-in-hand at the various markets areas on Monday 23rd of March for successful completion of the exercise.
The exercise will commence from the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly and its various markets which include circle, malata, tiptoe lane, odwana and adabraka.
Zone two venue is A.M.A involving makola, okaishie, Cantonment, Tema Station and Agbogbloshie Market
A whike zone three of the exercise includes glory land hotel environs namely kaneshie market, Anyaa market and Odorkor market as well.
Zone four includes Social Welfare and its submarkets, Madina, Dome, Amansaman and Achimota.
Zone five is Tema Municipal Assembly which includes Ashiaman markets, kpone katamanso Tema community 1,2 and 9 markets to be precise. Zone six of the exercise includes Sege Municipal Assembly and its markets namely Sege, Ningo Prampram, Shai Osudoku, and Ada respectively.
Also, the general public has been advised by the Assembly to observe necessary precautions individually by washing hands regularly under running water with soap and frequently sanitizing of hands when out of the reach of water.
The Markets will however be re-open the next day(March 24) for business to resume immediately.
Shop owners, costumers, and the general public have been urged to abide by these directives for an easy and triumphant accomplishment of the exercise.
