Telecommunication network MTN as part of its support to government in the fight against COVID-19 has donated GHc5 million to the state in the fight against coronavirus.
The amount is to support the procurement of medical supplies as well as Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs)
It is also for the purchase of other essentials to aid the frontline health workers in the discharge of their duties.
In addition, MTN Ghana Foundation in consultation with the Ministry of Health is acquiring certain items to also boost the safety of the health worker.
These items include 10,000 Virus Sampling kits, 10,000 N95 Masks, 10,000 Gloves, 7,500 PPEs (Overalls), 4 PCR Machines for testing, 3,000 RNA Extraction Kits, 500 Infrared thermometers and 3,000 Disposable bedsheets.
According to the CEO of MTN Ghana, Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, “COVID-19 is, unquestionably, testing our society’s fortitude and we all have a role to play in helping our country to overcome this global challenge’’.
He also said this stage of their commitment to the nation is to help the country and the medical staff to fight and halt the spread of the virus.
Mr. Adadevoh further stated that “we are in difficult times and MTN urges its employees and customers to strictly adhere to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.”
