The Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani has told the faithful of the Christ the King Cathedral in Sunyani that the Mystery of the Eucharist cannot be comprehended by the human senses.
In his homily during Eucharistic celebration on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 2, 2024, he explained that to understand that the bread and wine being the body and blood of Christ cannot be comprehended by the human senses but only by faith which rely on Divine authority, the authority of Jesus.
He added that there were many things that Jesus did which were not subject to our senses and the most important of them all is the Eucharist.
“In the Eucharistic presence he remains mysteriously in us as the one loved and gave himself for us,” the Bishop said.
He urged the faithful to let their faith work when they receive the Eucharist with their hands, being aware of what precious gift they have received. Furthermore, he added, that the Holy Eucharist is not only to be revered during Mass but outside Mass too.
Bishop Gyamfi, who is the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference encouraged the people of God to visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently, assuring them that Jesus is seated waiting to forgive their sins and that there is nothing Jesus cannot do, he has the answers to all questions.
