At a brief but impressive ceremony at his residence at Fadama, Accra, the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Osman Nuhu Sharabutu donated an amount of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis to support the National Cathedral Project.

The donation was made when the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Apostle Opoku Onyinah and his Vice Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam.

Stating the purpose of their visit, Apostle Opoku Onyinah said they were in the house of the National Chief Imam to greet him, find out how he is doing and also officially inform him about the National Cathedral Project.

In his word of welcome, the National Chief Imam expressed gratitude to God for the memorable occasion and also thanked the Delegation for making time to visit him.

He said the visit is an indication that Christians and Moslems trace their origin to a common source in Adam and Eve. “We should therefore see our diversity as a means of preaching peace to the whole world and avoid anything that will destroy the peace we enjoy as a Nation. Ghana remains an example of religious tolerance in the world ” he added.

In conclusion, the National Chief Imam said in solidarity with Christians in Ghana and as an expression of the goodwill between Christians and Moslems, he is donating an amount GH¢ 50,000.00 as a token towards the National Cathedral Project.

In response, Archbishop Palmer-Buckle thanked the National Chief Imam for his donation, which he described as a profound gesture of love for the Christian family in Ghana. He then called on all Christians to emulate the gesture of giving exhibited by the National Chief Imam and contribute towards the building and completion of the National Cathedral.

The National Chief Imam concluded the meeting with a prayer for a successful completion of the National Cathedral.
