The Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council (AADCYC) celebrated a momentous occasion as it conducted an induction and handing-over Mass for its newly elected executives on September 23. The event, which took place at the Catholic Youth Formation Center in Lashibi, marked the transition of leadership roles from the outgoing executives to the incoming team.
This came after the AADCYC elected four new executives on September 2, 2023, as the two-year term of the outgoing executives drew to a close. The newly elected leaders are Mr. Augustine Kwame Dagbey, Mr. McDennis Appau, Ms. Rhodaline Anaba, and Mr. Kizito Danso.
The Mass served as a ceremonial platform to officially transfer responsibilities and leadership duties while also recognizing the dedication and hard work of the outgoing executives during their tenure. Certificates of commendation were awarded to the outgoing team for their service.
Fr. Alphonse Bulloro, the Youth Chaplain of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, emphasized the importance of continuity among the youth. He stated, “To foster continuity and growth, we have co-opted the outgoing executives to work alongside the newly elected ones, following the advice of the Council of the Archbishop.”
Fr. Alphonse further highlighted that the event provided an opportunity for youth to engage with parents, the media, and other councils, deaneries, and stakeholders involved in youth formation.
Mr. Augustine Kwame Dagbey, the newly inducted AADCYC chairperson, expressed the commitment of the incoming executives to serve the youth and contribute to the growth of Catholic youth in the Accra Archdiocese. He also appealed to individuals and groups to consider donating a minibus to AADCYC, which would facilitate the transportation of youth.
During an interview, Mr. Dagbey shared his vision of focusing on the spiritual growth of the youth through active engagement, particularly using social media as a tool to communicate about the faith.
Gerald Woode, the outgoing AADCYC chairperson, offered advice to the incoming executives, encouraging them to embrace digitalization as a means of evangelization. He pledged his full support and guidance to the new leadership team.
