The Our Lady of Assumption (OLA) Branch of the Catholic Women’s Council (CWC) in the Accra Archdiocese on Sunday, February 4, 2024, climaxed its First Anniversary celebration with a Thanksgiving Mass.
The week-long celebration was on the theme: Godly Women, Implementing Godly Principles.
Activities to mark the celebration included an aerobics session, Bible sharing, intercessory prayers and Grotto Mass during which the women played Ministerial roles.
There was also a talk on the anniversary day on the topic: The role of women in helping children seek the face of Jesus.
The women during the climax Mass took up various Liturgical roles such as reading, commentary, ushering and leading the bidding prayers. All women were asked to bring offertory gifts and take them to the altar. This was impressively done.
The President of the Council, Ms. Paula Lorwia, expressed gratitude to God for how far he had brought the Council. Special mention was made of the support of the Parish Priest and his Associates, the PPC and the entire Church for their support since the inauguration of the group a year ago.
She said the women would contribute their quota to the growth and development of the Church.
Ms. Lorwia reminded women in the Parish that the CWC is not an association but an umbrella body of all women’s groups in the Church and encouraged all women, whether or not they belong to any group to be part of the Council.
On behalf of the Council, Mrs. Cynthia Obu made presentations to the Church and a cash donation to the St Vincent de Paul Society to use in supporting a needy Parishioner.
The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Job Plinga, MCCJ, the Chaplain of the Council.
