New Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana Presents Letter of Introduction From Pope to Catholic Bishops
The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency, Most Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw JAGODZINSKI has presented his “Letter of Introduction” to the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS), on Wednesday September 9, 2020. He was accompanied by Rev. Msgr. Pavol Talapka who until recently, was the Charge D’Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana.
In a word of welcome, the Secretary General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Very Rev Fr. Anondee on behalf of the GCBC, thanked the Nuncio for coming and expressed gratitude to God for his safe arrival.
Most Rev. Jagodzinski then presented his Letter of Introduction to the President of the Conference, Most Rev. Philip NAAMEH with the words “it is a tradition that every Nuncio assigned to a mission should bring a Letter from the Vatican’s Secretary of State to the Bishops Conference of the Country to which the Nuncio is sent”.
The GCBC President read out the Letter of Introduction which is written in Latin, after which he added that the Nuncio’s coming was the expression of the will of the Ghanaian Catholic Faithful to have another Nuncio. He assured His Excellency Jagodzinski that the GCBC would accord him the collaboration that was needed for the growth of the Church in Ghana.
The Nuncio in his response expressed gratitude to the Conference for the warm reception from the people of Ghana on his arrival. He pledged to draw the Church in Ghana and the Catholic Community closer to the mission and Gospel of Christ.
Archbishop Naameh offered a prayer for the Nuncio after which the Nuncio imparted his Apostolic Blessings on all present.
Present to receive the Nuncio were some Senior Staff of the National Catholic Secretariat.
