The New Horizon Special School, in collaboration with La Foundation for the Arts (LAFA), successfully hosted a classical charity concert, dubbed “George François in Concert,” on Friday, January 9, 2026, drawing classical music enthusiasts to the British Council Hall in Accra.
The evening spotlighted Dr. George François, an internationally renowned concert pianist, composer, and Ashesi University professor, who delivered a stirring solo recital of masterpieces by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt.

The classical music performances highlighted Dr. George François’ passion for classical music as he played the pieces from memory, recalling the site of his public debut at age seven, guided by his late first teacher, Mrs. Grace Nartey.
The partnership with LAFA forms part of the organization’s mission to explore and empower the creative abilities of marginalized and vulnerable children, including individuals with special abilities.

Proceeds gathered during the event will directly support the school’s educational programs and innovative art therapy initiatives for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism.
The event also had the attendance of classical enthusiasts from the Ashesi University and Achimota School, who expressed their delight in the performances.

The New Horizon Special School continues to champion inclusive education and vocational training, transforming the lives of underrepresented individuals in society, especially individuals with special needs.
