Before the Elections:
A level playing field: Peace fosters a conducive environment for all political parties to campaign freely, express their views, and reach out to voters. It allows for fair and impartial media coverage and prevents intimidation or violence against candidates and their supporters.
Even though some campaigns words may be offensive or inflammatory to some candidates but all form part of criticism of their campaigns and their policies..
Trust in the electoral process: Peaceful preparations build trust in the electoral process among citizens. It encourages voter participation and reduces the risk of boycotts or challenges to the results.
And we must also encourage voter participation in elections processes because it is their right and responsibility to vote for their representatives.
Economic stability: Political uncertainty and tension can deter investment, stifle economic growth, and negatively impact Ghana’s global standing and that can sometimes cause economic hardship or threaten economic stability. A peaceful environment signals stability and attracts both domestic and foreign investment partners to invest in the Republic.
During the Elections:
Peaceful voting: A peaceful atmosphere allows citizens to cast their ballots freely and without fear of intimidation or violence.
All Political Party Leaders should communicate with their representatives and supporters to ensure that they are informed about voting process in order to maintain peace and stability in the country and This ensures that elections reflect the true will of the people.
Unbiased counting and results: Peace facilitates a transparent and fair counting process, minimizing the risk of disputes and unrest. It ensures that election results are credible and accepted by all stakeholders.
Maintaining order and security: Peaceful elections allow security forces to focus on ensuring order, protecting voters, and responding to any minor incidents effectively. This helps prevent large-scale unrest and violence in the country.
After the Elections:
Reconciliation and healing: Peace allows for a smooth transition of power and promotes national unity. It facilitates dialogue and reconciliation between different political factions, fostering a sense of shared responsibility for the country’s future.
Economic recovery and growth: A peaceful post-election environment is critical for businesses and investors to regain confidence and resume normal activities. It allows the government to focus on addressing critical issues and implementing policies without disruption.
