The Africa Institute of Healthcare Quality Safety and Accreditation (AfIHQSA) says 1,620 persons in Africa tested positive for Coronavirus pandemic.
In a document titled, “Responding to COVID-19: Recommendations to African Nations” issued on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, states that “Africa recorded its first case in Egypt on February 25, 2020, while Ghana reported its first case on March 12, 2020. Since then, there has been a surge in reported cases (1,620 and 29 deaths as of March 25, 2020) on the continent albeit slow compared with other regions.
“A total of 45 Africa countries have so far been affected,” the statement added.
The document further states six (6) recommendations which include, allocating a clear budget line for the response to COVID-19 as a continent and countries, prioritizing the availability of adequate numbers of personal protective equipment such that no health worker dies saving a life.
Also, it proposed for the introduction of innovative community approaches, including voluntary testing facilities to increase access to testing, especially in localities where persons infected have been recorded.
AfIHQSA further *advised all to be each other’s keeper since we are all capable of attracting the virus, reminding that “we are all vulnerable in the face of COVID-19.”
“Let us be aggressive and accelerate our efforts, let us reach out in support of each other for we are all in this together” it added
