With the ordination of the Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare and the Most Rev. John Kobina Louis as Auxiliary Bishops of Accra today, April 19, 2023, some Parishes they had worked at before their appointments have extended their felicitations to them as they take up the mantle to work as collaborators with the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra.
In its message, the St. Kizito Parish, Nima, mother Parish of Bishop Louis, said the new Bishops were fine and respected Priests whose choice as Auxiliary Bishops should be seen as a major blessing for the Archdiocese.
“The profiles of the two Auxiliary Bishops make them stand out as Priests who are well grounded in the Archdiocese and know the nook and cranny of the Archdiocese, they stated, averring, “We are in no doubt that they will support our indefatigable Archbishop to achieve his vision for the Archdiocese.”
“We, in St. Kizto Catholic Church, Nima promise our unflinching support for the vision of the Archbishop and will do our utmost to support him as well as his Auxiliary Bishops to attain his vision for the Archdiocese.
We congratulate the Auxiliary Bishops and wish them the very best in their episcopacy.
From St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Tema Community 8, the home Parish of Bishop Asare and its first Priest, the parishioners said they saw the appointment and ordination of their son as phenomenal where “God’s word is full of promises which are sure.”
According to them, in His graciousness, He has revealed His merciful love and kindness to His lowly and faithful servants, saying, the elevation of their son “is an inestimable honour from above and we received it with overwhelming joy.”
“We are highly elated to be associated with you in this happy moments not forgetting to remind you of the challenges ahead,” they added.
In a message from the parishioners of Mary Mother of Good Counsel Parish, Airport West, Accra where Bishop Louis was pastoral Assistant until his appointment, they extended their warmest congratulations to him on his Episcopal Ordination.
“We take great pride in your elevation due to the very special relationship the Parish has with you,” it said, adding, “We are honoured to join in celebrating this important moment with you as your Episcopal Ordination is a momentous event and a significant milestone in your life and ministry.”
“As a Bishop, you are called to serve with humility, wisdom, and compassion, and to lead your flock with steadfast faith and dedication amongst several other responsibilities,”
They expressed confident that the two Auxiliaries would continue to fulfill his sacred duties with grace and excellence, and that his leadership would bring many blessings to those entrusted to his care.
They prayed that they would use their episcopal ministry to continue to positively impact the lives of all persons who encounter you irrespective of their social background, ethnicity, race, beliefs, creed, religious background and standing in society.
The Saints Anne and Joachim Community of Teshie, the Parish shepherded by Bishop Asare before his appointment, praised the two Auxiliaries for proving themselves as Priests of excellent intellectual acumen, prayerfulness, fidelity, humility and intense pastoral zeal for the people you have shepherded.
“You have built great legacies in the Archdiocese, and we hope they will be graved boldly in gold. God has chosen you as true witnesses to Christ, the Good Shepherd. May He endow you with wisdom and ever deepening holiness as you guide the flock entrusted to your loving care,” they indicated.
From the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, the parishioners were grateful and thankful to God for His immense love and blessings to His people through the works of His two servants Most Rev. John Kobina Louis and Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare.
“We are humbled by your selfless sacrifice, service and commitment to the Church. You both have been, for a long time, distinguished members of the clergy in the ways of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and now celebrate a truly memorable event in your lives and ministries, namely, the first Auxiliary Bishops of the Accra Archdiocese,” they said.
Adding, they said “From afar, we have always and with admiration listened to you and followed the course of your lives, works and deeds, and so would wish also to share in the congratulations and the solemn import of this occasion.
