Pope Francis  Honours 14 Individuals in the Keta­-Akatsi Diocese

The Diocese of Keta-Akatsi is proud to announce and confer Ecclesiastical and Papal honours upon 14 individuals for their dedication and various exceptional services to the Church in the Diocese of Keta-Akatsi.

Very Rev. Fr. William Techie of the Diocesan Development Office, Very Rev. Fr. Moses Attah Debre, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Quasi Parish-Vodza and Very Rev. Fr. Felix Senyo, the Parish Priest of the St. Francis of the Asissi Parish-Anloga were conferred with the title of Monsignors, Chaplain to His Holiness.

In another category, Dr. Joseph Kwame Korpisah, an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Ho teaching hospital; Mr. Joseph Kofi Ametordzi-a retired teacher; Mr Peter T. Fullah, a retired teacher; Mad. Elizabeth Souzey Seshie, a retired teacher and Mad. Doris Adadevoh Ablo, a retired midwife and a business woman were conferred with Knights and Dames of St. Gregory the Great respectively.

Mr. Augustine Amartey Mensah, a retired surveyor; Mr. Michael Kwadzo Agorpka, a retired farm supervisor and Mrs. Rose Aku Sedzro Adzaho, a retired educationist were conferred with Knights and Dames of St. Sylvester, Pope and Martyr.

Sr. Arcade Eleeza, SMMC, a retired registered nurse, Sr. Margaret Adukonu, SMMC, a retired midwife and Mr Jimmy Korsi Kpeglo,a retired educationist were also conferred with Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.

The Most Rev. Henry K. Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana in a Pontifical Mass celebration at the Christ the King Cathedral at Akatsi on Saturday, June 22, 2024, conferred the honours on the awardees.

Concelebrating were the Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD, the Bishop of the Diocese of Keta-Akatsi; the Most Rev. Anthony Kwame Adanuty, the Bishop Emeritus and hundred clergy drawn from the Arch/dioceses of Accra, Keta-Akatsi, Ho, and Jasikan.

In his homily, Archbishop Jagodzinski stated that although it is human nature to satisfy one own self, we need to promote the good of our neighbours and by such gesture we are seeking the kingdom of God first above all else.

He congratulated the awardees for using their strength and time to sacrifice for the Church and humanity in varied ways. Your awards are visible signs of gratitude of the Holy Father Pope Francis for the tireless efforts in doing church work in varied ways, he added.

The Nuncio advised that, although it is difficult to pray, all faithful should do so even if it seems God is not answering the prayers. He encourages the faithful to be assured of God’s presence even in difficult situations.

A presentation was made by Rev. Msgr Peter Huletey, the vicar general of the diocese to the nuncio for his special love to Keta-Akatsi Diocese.

He expressed the gratitude of the diocese for his cooperation since the year 2020 when he visited the diocese as his first visit as he arrived in Ghana and as the last diocese again visited when he is now on transfer to South Africa.

Present to grace the occasion was chiefs from Avenor area, Sisters of Mary Mother of Church, Dean of Medical School at University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and some chiefs.
