The Red Ladies with BASICS International, in partnership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Queens Alumnae Chapter, USA), have renewed their decade-long support to the New Horizon Special School (NHSS) in Cantonments, Accra, on August 20, 2025.
During their visit, the group donated an estimated amount of GHC 17,000 towards the special school’s social media promotion, some reading materials, and planted a tree to symbolize their enduring partnership.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Ms. Vikkie said, “The great work being done with the children has always been the most rewarding part of this journey. We look forward to strengthening this relationship and supporting in every way possible.”
Madam Jocelyn Adoboe, the Deputy Principal of NHSS, received the items and thanked the group for their consistent generosity.
Founded in 1972, NHSS provides education, therapy, and vocational training to about 180 learners with intellectual disabilities, autism, and Down syndrome, empowering them with skills in crafts, weaving, batik, sewing, and more.

Some graduates are also retained as instructors, continuing the cycle of empowerment.
Management has appealed for greater public support, staff training, and the return of learners who dropped out during COVID-19, emphasizing that “disability does not mean inability.”
With three decades of collaboration, the Red Queens remain a vital partner in helping NHSS transform lives and foster inclusion.
