Consecrated Men and Women working in the Ghana’s Goaso Diocese have marked the World Day of prayer for Consecrated Persons with a Mass at the St. John of God Parish at Duayaw Nkwanta.
The Mass held on Sunday, February 5, 2023, was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Kunyri, the Parish Priest who urged the parishioners to hold firm their faith and let that faith remain and inspire others and lead them to Christ.
In his homily, Fr. Kunyri said “the significant meaning of what Jesus say to us, is that, we are the salt and light of the world.
According to him “For us to be the salt and light of the world, we must acknowledge the fact that we have been created in the image and likeness of God. Meaning we have the spirit of God dwelling in us and that make us, the nature of God”.
He urged the congregation to always appreciate, respect and protect their human dignity, saying, “We have been created in the image and likeness of God, so we have to protect this dignity that is ours.”
He said “Jesus uses figurative language to address us, He says we are the salt and light of the world. And all know the importance of salt and light,” adding, “Salt is use for preservation and serve as a medicine to us. Light is the symbol of joy and hope.”
He advised the parishioners to reflect and ask the spirit of God to help them to discern, so that they can discover themselves.
He prayed that the light of the world who is Jesus would help Catholics to hold their faith and let that faith remain and inspire others and lead them to Christ. If their faith does not bring them fulfilment, then they will never find fulfilment.
The programme was climaxed with a socialisation section with exchanging of gift.
