Various Female Religious Congregations celebrated this year’s Christmas with different activities that brought out the joy of the nativity of Christ.
At the St. Michael Co-Cathderal Parish at Keta in the Keta-Akatsi Diocese, Sr. Agnes Mercy Nyatsoe, SMMC reports that the St. Catherine Community of the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (SMMC) at Agbakope joined the Immaculate Heart of Mary Community at Keta for this year’s Christmas celebration.
Srs. Agnes Dzifa Agbeli, and Patience Monica Akpandza from St. Catherine Community joined the Immaculate Heart of Mary Community, Priests and faithful to mark the Christmas vigil and the Solemnity of the birth of Christ.
On December 24, 2022, the eve of Christmas, Rev. Fr. Michael Selasi Combey, the Associate Parish Priest of St. Michael Co-Cathedral, organised a voluntary quiz competition for Missionary Children on during which the children recited Matthew 1:1-17 (part of the genealogy of Jesus).
Caroline Avorgbedor, Josephine Ocloo and Valentina Soku competed and Valentina came out exceptionally victorious to the admiration of all.
Fr. Combey commended the children for their efforts and promised organising Christmas party for them.
On Christmas day, the St. Gregory Choir lead the Mass with cultural music which set the whole church ‘ablaze’.
In a homily, Fr. Combey exhorted the faithful to be bearers of good news that would bring joy to people and bring them to Christ as the angels did to shepherds.
From Jirapa in the Wa Diocese, Sr. Gifty Bayeldeng, FMM, reports that the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) Sisters in Christ the King Convent in Jirapa had a peaceful and joyful Christmas celebration.
On December 24, 2022, Vigil Mass ushered the Sisters into the Christmas celebration with hymns such as Silent night! Holy night! to remind the Christian faithful of the first carols nights by the shepherds and Magi who saw the star leading them to Baby Jesus.
