The Executive Secretary of the Conference of Major Superiors of Religious, Ghana (CMSRG), Sr. Theodora Adzayawo, SMMC, has charged Religious Sisters in Ghana to strive to tell the untold positive stories of their Religious congregations so that the world would see the good things being done at various levels.
Speaking at the opening of a five-day media training workshop organised for 13 Religious Sister Communicators from the southern part of Ghana at the SMA Provincial House in Accra on December 19, she said the Conference saw the need to train sisters in the field of communication and journalism to gain the bases of writing good stories for their various congregations.
These stories, she noted, could be published both locally and internationally, adding that in some countries, Sister Communicators had come together to register as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and were able to write for projects from the Hilton Foundation to support what they were doing.
According to Sr. Adzayawo, who welcomed the participants on behalf of the President of CMSRG, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Saa-Dade Ennin, SMA, Religious Women have many stories to tell, noting, “It is the goal of the Conference for our stories be told well and by us”.
The Workshop organised by the CMSRG for Religious Sisters in the southern part of Ghana was to help develop the writing skills of the Religious to tell their own stories, help members understand Media Planning, and prepare effectively in representing the Conference in the Media.
The December 19 to 23, 2022 is being attended by Sisters from following congregations: Holy Cross Sisters, Sisters of St. Louis, Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary, Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer of Accra, Sisters of Infant Jesus, Sisters of Notre Dame de L’Eglise and Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit.
The facilitators of the training were Mr. Robert Dela Yao Mawuenyagah, Mr. Damian Dieu Donne Avevor and Mr. Ernest Senanu Dovlo of Global NewsWatch Media and Communications.
