“Serving God is a Call not a Profession” – Says Catholic Priest

Must read

Rev. Fr. Ishmael Besing Karadaar, a Mathematics Tutor and Chaplain at the St. Ambrose College of Education, Dormaa Akwamu has told Catholics that serving God is a call but not a profession.

Speaking during Mass on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Wamfie in the Sunyani Diocese in the Bono Region of Ghana, he said most often, a Profession is of the world but a call is a vocation from God and everyone has the right to answer or not but when you answer, you have to do the work of as a calling.

Fr. Besing in his homily said Jesus prayed for the unity of the Church not for everyone to speak the same language but that everyone should use the gift he has given to them to serve.

He said for the past six years he feared that the church will collapse due to the pedophilia cases the Church was facing in America but it remained firm because Jesus built the Church on the rock of Peter and have been obedient.

He stated that the Church still exists today not because she had not made mistakes but because she did not allow sin to overcome her.

Citing an example of a man who doesn’t join prayers sessions but he is blessed through the little charity that he does which is a great lesson.

He encouraged faithful to discover their gifts and use them to serve God and the Church.

Rev. Msgr.  John Boakye Gyan, Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Wamfie concelebrated the Mass with Fr. Besing.
