The Catholic youth at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) in Bono Region of Ghana celebrated their Silver Jubilee of the existence of Pax Romana with the commencement of a Chapel project for Catholic Worship.
The anniversary climaxed on July 5, 2025, was under the theme: Faith in Action: 25 Years of Growth and Service.
The silver jubilee climax was preceded by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by the Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
The Bishop was the first Chaplain of Pax Romana STU local 25 years ago.
The Mass was concelebrated by Rev Fr. Robert Yeboah, Chaplain at STU and the youth Chaplain of the Sunyani Diocese.

The Pax Romana STU local who over the years uses the School’s auditorium for worship has begun putting up a Chapel for Mass and other para-liturgical activities.
Bishop Gyamfi encouraged the Pax Romana members to be committed and dedicated to seeing to the completion of their own Chapel.
Stating that “where there is will there is a way”, he added “there is nothing better to do to mark these 25 years than to build a house for the Lord.”
He assured them of his unflinching support, and they were not going to be left as orphans.
Speaking in correspondence with the readings (Genesis 25:15,15-29) of the day, the Bishop urged the pax members to desist from every form of cheating.

He called on the congregation to have an open eye on the life and situations of the people around them, stating that “we become blind when we do not do anything to improve upon the life of the poor or to make their situation better.”
He added that intellectual explanations without actions to improve human life are spiritual blindness.
Going forward, he exhorted the young Catholics at STU to stand firm in defending their faith and fighting against the wrongs of society regardless of their consequences.
Furthermore, he resonated very strongly that they should ask for the blessings of their parents and should never try to curse their parents because their words had power over theirs.
Adding that God had given every parent the power to bless their children, he encouraged them to bless their children also.
As he brought his homily to a conclusion, Bishop Gyamfi pronounced the same blessings that Isaac invoked on Jacob unto the Pax Romana STU local members adding that “it will be so for one who believes.”

The Pax Romana STU local Patron, Mr. Frank Owusu, who is the Deputy Registrar of the Sunyani Technical University, assured the students body that they were going to build their own chapel by the time they would be celebrating their 30th anniversary.
He appealed to all to contribute their widow’s mite towards completion of the project.
Funds were raised during the ceremony in support of building the chapel and a cake was cut to celebrate the anniversary.
The day was a joyful one with song administration by the Cross Chorale Choir.
