The Arnold Janssen Spirituality Centre located at Tuba in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana has outdoored a new Ultra-Modern and Multipurpose Conference Hall named after the late Atu Mould of Blessed Memory.
The facility managed by the Society of Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) is a four-in-one project offering a serene atmosphere for spiritual retreats and recollections for individuals and groups.
The new SVD Catholic facility was officially opened with a short ceremony by Very Rev. Fr. Cyprian Kuupol, the Provincial Superior of the SVD and the Sati Ocran family who partly sponsored the building of the facility.
The facility has a hall which is an audio-visual room with a capacity of 25 while Hall two and three have been designed to serve the purpose for seminars and workshops for a capacity of 50 and 70 respectively.
Hall four which provides an ambience for different activities has a sitting capacity of 350, well fitted with appropriate lightning system, air-conditioners and CCTV cameras.
The 350 capacity hall has been dedicated and named after the late Atu Mould whose memory was celebrated for his humanitarian and charitable deeds on earth. The late Atu Mould, who was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Makam Plant Hire, died in 2020 at the age of 48 but left an indelible impression and impact on the many lives he affected positively.
Very Rev. Fr. Andrews Obeng SVD, the Vice Provincial Superior and the Director of the AJSC in his remarks noted that “in deciding on the name to give to the hall, the leadership of the SVD here in Ghana considered many factors. The SVD worldwide places premium on the mission of our lay partners. Indeed, our Generalate in Rome (i.e. our head office) has, in series of circulars, emphasized the need for SVD confreres to collaborate more closely with our lay associates. It is in this spirit that we consider naming the hall after the late Atu Mould, a lay man whose family has been supportive of the missionary drive of the Catholic Church as a whole and the SVD in particular a worthy cause.”
He however said, the naming of the hall after Atu Mould, the son of Sati Ocran, is to highlight and celebrate the virtue of giving. Atu was a cheerful giver. He believed that everything he owned came from God and he gave as God directed him.”
He commended Mama Sati Ocran and the entire Mould and allied families *for* their sense of generosity in supporting the cause of evangelization.
“This year, the SVD celebrates 85 years of existence in Ghana. As part of the celebration a date is being fixed to appreciate our lay mission partners. When the date is made public, kindly do us the honour in allowing us to celebrate you,” he noted.
Gracing the ceremony were respectable dignitaries including Hon. Elizabeth Ohene, former Minister of State and Hon. Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Priests, Religious and the lay faithful and Benefactors.
The AJSC is a Catholic facility in the Archdiocese of Accra, owned and managed by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD). It has 48-self-contained bedrooms for pilgrims, clients and retreatants who access services such as spiritual direction, retreat, counselling and clinical psychology.
The facility provides various prayer spaces and offers a serene atmosphere for renewal.
