The Church is in Your Hands” Bishop of Sunyani Diocese Tells  Hundreds of Youth at Rally

Must read

On Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Diocese of Sunyani held a rally for the youth at the Mary Queen of Peace Grotto, Amanfoso in the Sunyani Diocese in the Brong Region of Ghana.

This followed a three-day programme that began on February 27, 2026  under the theme: “Year of the Youth.”

The Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of Sunyani in his homily, noted that this is one of the most important programmes the Diocese would ever have and urged every young person to participate fully without missing it.

He admonished those who think they were “past the age” of being a youth to reconsider, as God calls and empowers people at any age He chooses.

He encouraged the youth not to be afraid of difficulties and asked them a challenging question: “What single thing are you doing for God?”

He highlighted that Jesus Himself prepared for 40 days and nights as a youth before starting His work.

Therefore, the Bishop urged the youth to also prepare by studying the Catholic faith and the Catechism  of the Catholic Church (CCC).

He admonished that if they do not know their faith, they cannot protect it.

The Bishop stressed that the youth should be active and “on fire” in their parishes and outstations, avoiding lackadaisical attitudes.

In a powerful move, he surrendered the future of the church into the hands of the youth and assured them of his full backing.

However, he cautioned them to be alert to the difference between the world’s teachings and the Church’s teachings, and exhorted them to be bold in defending God’s Word.
