Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, has charged the church to rise up and fight against corruption as it holds the solution to the canker.
According to him, even God knows that human beings are corrupt and that is why Jesus said Christians are the salt of the earth “so if you say that an unbeliever is corrupt you have not said anything, he’s just being himself.”
Apostle Nyamekye says it’s a shame that over 70% of Ghanaians claim to be Christians and yet corruption is always being discussed in the country.
“It presupposes that maybe we are not understanding Christianity and not being the real salt and light of the world and therefore maybe we are also part of the corruption,” he told Dr Kwabena Opuni Frimpong on GTV’s ‘What is Next’.
He said whilst the government is doing its bid to end corruption, the church needs to rise up and play its role, especially because most politicians are part of the church.
“We want to refocus the churches so that we come back to righteousness and when we do that, we’ll be able to heal the corruption of the land because the solution to the corruption is in the hands of the church.”
“The politicians who are supposed to make sure that corrupt people are dealt with are in our churches, so what are we preaching to them,” he said.
