The Cross is a Symbol of Christianity -Fr. Mubanga

Must read

Rev. Fr. John C. Mubanga, M.Afr, has reminded the people of God to see the Cross as a symbol of Christianity, representing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross like a criminal in order to save humanity.

Fr. Mubanga said this in a Homily at the Blessed Sacrament Parish at Abelenkpe on Good Friday, marking the Passion of Jesus Christ.

He encouraged Christians to reflect on the suffering that Jesus endured by dying on the cross and let it stir up a deep sorrow “within us for our sins that contributed to His crucifixion.”

Fr. Mubanga said the Passion story of Jesus Christ should lead Christians to repent and turn away from sin, adding that Jesus was made a victim of sin so that “we could become the uprightness of God.”

He called on Christians to crucify their sins in order that “Jesus may live within us,” stressing that “the suffering and sorrows that Jesus endured were for our sake, were because of his love for us, and through his wounds, we find healing and peace.”

“In his humanity, Jesus can empathize with our struggles with moral weakness, and he offers patience and understanding to all of us who are ignorant or erring …let us then commit ourselves wholeheartedly to Jesus in our daily lives, carrying our crosses until the very end,” Fr. Mubanga admonished.
