A Catholic Priest of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, Rev. Fr. John C. Mubanga, has observed that for Christians to genuinely participate in Jesus’ resurrection, their actions and behaviour must continually revolve around doing good by committing themselves to living each day with a new quality of life, characterized by joy, generosity, love and acceptance of all.
In a Homily at the Blessed Sacrament Parish at Abelenkpe in the Accra Archdiocese on Easter Sunday, Fr. Mubanga said Easter is a time of significant transformation in the lives of Christians, one without impurities but full of sincerity and honesty.
Touching on the Gospel Reading of the day, Fr. Mubanga said the Resurrection had a profound positive impact on the lives of Jesus’ disciples whose faith became strengthened and their lives completely transformed.
“Thanks to the Resurrection, the disciples who had previously been afraid to associate themselves with Jesus, experienced a complete change of heart and fearlessly proclaimed the truth that Jesus who had died on the Cross, was alive and with them,” he stated.
Underscoring the importance of women in shaping society and upholding good Christian values, Fr. Mubanga recalled that the Resurrection was first witnessed by women, adding that without the women, “we would not have been sitting here to celebrate the Resurrection.”
He was emphatic that the celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection was the most significant event in the Church as it remained the greatest miracle and foundation of the Christian belief.
“This special occasion proves that Jesus Christ is truly divine, and it is a time of rejoicing and triumph, as Jesus conquered sin and death, transformed us into a new creation, and freed us from the chains of sin and death,” Fr. Mubanga noted.
