Volta College Foundation Celebrates Easter Picnic With Inmates of Kpando Prisons
Volta College Foundation a youth-oriented organisation based in Volta has celebrated this year’s Easter Festivities to with the inmates of Kpando Prisons where the Foundation make a Charity Donation to the Prisons for the upkeep of the inmates.
Items donated 5 sets of Water Closet (WCs), 5 Buckets of Paints and paintbrushes, 3 bags of 25kg Rice, packs of T- Rolls.
The rest includes assorted soft drinks, bags of sacket water, Liquid Soaps, Used clothes, packs of washing powder and soap, Cooking oil, cartons of tomato paste.
The total estimated items donated worth Ghc6,000. This donation forms part of Volta College Foundation Corporate Social Responsibility.
Volta College Foundation is a vibrant and emerging youth group in Volta with branches spreading throughout the Volta and Oti Regions. The Foundation’s aim is to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged in our society and beyond.
The Officer in Charge of the Kpando Local Prisons Assistant Director of Prisons Eric Ainoo-Ansah who received the items on behalf of the inmates was very delighted about the donation to Kpando Local Prisons and appealed to other benevolent organisations to emulate the gesture of the Foundation to come to their aid and help the inmates with donations as the government cannot do it all.
Currently, the Kpando Prisons have One hundred and twenty-three (123) inmates who have committed various levels of crimes.
The Foundation President Ameko Richmond popularly called Barry Williams said the Foundation as part of her Corporate Social Responsibility will adopt the Kpando Prisons and frequently visit the inmates of the prisons and appealed to other Religious, NGOs and corporate organisations to come on board to assist the inmates so that they(inmates) will fell belong and not neglected by the society as they are in incarceration.
