Volta NGO Donates Educational Materials to School in Somey Traditional Area

Volta College Foundation, a non-governmental organisation has donated exercise books and other learning materials to the Task Corner Basic School at Agbozume in the Somey Traditional Area of the Ketu South Municipality.

The donation forms part of the group’s Corporate social responsibility to society. It also coincided with the maiden Annual General Meeting of the Foundation which was held at Aflao.

The Foundation donated 1,500 exercise books ,pencils,erasers at an estimated cost of
GHc4,500.

The 2nd Vice President of Volta College, Mac-Thompson Gbeti, presented the items to the school in a colourful ceremony which was attended by the representative of the Municipal Director of Education, Chiefs and Opinion leaders of Somey Traditional Area as well as students of the school.

Torgbui Adama III who received the items on behalf of the school was grateful to the Municipal Directorate for identifying the school which is one of the most deprived schools in the Municipality.

He appealed to other benevolent organisations to come to their aid to support the School as the Students are the future of tomorrow.

The Foundation later held its maiden Annual General Meeting in Aflao to reflect on the successes and the forward as a group which is poised of bringing the youth of the Region together.

The meeting was under the theme” Joining forces together towards a better tomorrow for Voltarian, the role of Volta College members.

Togbuiga Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, the President of the Aflao Traditional Council who chaired the meeting congratulated the Founding President and members for their humanitarian activities in the Volta Region.

He called for unity and strength for all, saying that it is in unity that there is development.

He further pledged his support and the support of his traditional Area to the growth and development of the Foundation and the Volta Region at large.

Richmond Ameko, the Founder and President of Volta College Foundation, outlined the genesis of the Foundation which he said initially started as a fun group on social media but through the instrumentally of friends and close associates, it has grown to become a Foundation with membership strength of more than 600 and six zones across Volta and Oti Regions and in the Diaspora.

According to Richmond Ameko, the Foundation has a future plan of opening up a vocational school where indigenes of Volta would be enrollef on it and urged members to support the initiative.

Hon. Elliot Agbenorwu, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu South, appealed to Volta College Foundation to arise as youth Volta and remain united to the aims and objectives for total transformation of the Region.

The Chief Executive Officer of Infinity Group of Companies, John Kwakuvi Hounlessodji also urged the Foundation members to remain committed for the growth of Volta and Ghana at large.

Hon. Pascal A.B Rois, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana, who gave the keynote address commended the Founder and President of the Foundation for his vision to bring all youth in the Region under one umbrella to support each other and grow the Region.

Togbuiga Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V and other Dignitaries donated seed money for the establishment of the Vocational Training School.
