Must read

A great day has unfolded and the Ghana Province of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ) Congregation is immensely grateful to God for the gift of ten beautiful and elegant young ladies into the Congregation.

The Congregation is thrilled to have these number of postulants coming from different parts of Ghana, the Upper East, Upper West, Northern and Bono Regions which signifies their charism, unity in diversity.

This wonderful event took place at the HHCJ Pre-novitiate Community, Kwabenakwa-Asonkore in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana on March 7, 2024.

The Provincial Superior of the Ghana Province, Sr. Christina Doggu, HHCJ, who admitted ten captivating Aspirants into the Congregation advised and encouraged them to take every step in their formation seriously.

She enlightened them on the importance of silence in every individual’s life especially to the religious, saying, “How significant it is for us to be recollected at all-time which as a result helps us to be present with ourselves in every necessary action we perform”.

She stated:  “In our world today, we are gradually losing the essence of silence and serenity and silence is one of the most essential ingredient for people who want to stay connected with God.”

“As religious and people in formation it is our duty to make the world comprehend the relevance of silence and its effectiveness again, she added.

The main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration was Rev. Fr. Vitalis Cokoro from the Catholic Diocese of Obuasi and a friend to the Congregation.

In his homily, he reminded the postulants about God’s faithfulness and love towards humanity, noting, God is always faithful to mankind but mankind is always unfaithful.

As people who want to follow Christ, Fr. Kokoro said, “we should make conscious effort to obey God’s command,” and encouraged the new Postulants to see formation as a period of self-purification and heed to corrections in order to come out as good Handmaids of the Lord.

After the ceremony, one of the Pre-novices on behalf of the others, conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to God for a resounding outcome of the hooding ceremony.

She thanked the Provincial Superior and Council for receiving them into the Congregation, the main celebrant making time and coming to celebrate with them and the sisters present for their support, guidance and corrections.
