The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has announced the introduction of the Eco-Way of the Cross, a Stations of the Cross reflection designed to deepen the spiritual experience of Lent while remembering environmental stewardship.
This initiative, crafted by Friar Joseph Kwame Blay, OFM Conv. is part of the Church’s ongoing commitment to caring for God’s creation and promoting responsible environmental practices among its members.
In a message addressed to all priests, religious, and lay faithful by Rev. Fr. Patrick Agbeko, Director of the Pastoral office of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, the Archdiocese has encouraged all to build their spiritual journey through the Eco-Way of the Cross in order to become responsible stewards of God’s creation.
“It provides a powerful spiritual lens through which we acknowledge our failings as stewards of creation, seek God’s mercy, and resolve to protect our environment.”
This announcement follows the success of the recent Environmental Prayer Walk Against Galamsey, held on October 11, 2024, which highlighted the Church’s commitment to environmental preservation.
A booklet containing the Eco-Way of the Cross has been compiled and is available for purchase at GHC 10 per copy.
Parishes, rectories, outstations, and individuals interested in obtaining copies are invited to place their orders through the Archdiocesan Pastoral Office at the Holy Spirit Cathedral Adabraka by March 17, 2025.
