Bishop Gyamfi Urges Bold Reforms as Caritas Ghana Adopts New Strategic Vision

Must read

At the launch of its 2025–2030 Strategic Framework, Caritas Ghana has pledged to pursue reforms that will strengthen accountability, enhance efficiency, and deepen partnerships for development.

Speaking at Caritas Ghana’s inaugural Donors’ Conference in Accra on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Most Rev. Matthew K. Gyamfi, warned that “the global landscape of development is shifting” and that aid priorities and community needs are becoming increasingly complex.

He called on Caritas and its partners to embrace courage and vision.

“This framework is not just a document. It is a call to action, a commitment to the highest standards of due diligence, value for money, and demonstrable impact,” he said.

The five-year plan identifies six pillars of engagement: institutional development, sustainable livelihoods, climate and environment, governance and peacebuilding, emergency response, and social services.

The Bishop stressed that tackling poverty, inequality, climate change, and displacement requires partnerships where donors are not mere benefactors but “allies in a shared mission to co-create change.”

The development of the framework has been a collaborative and inclusive process made possible through the dedication and support of numerous individuals and organisations.

The 2025-20230 framework is a replacement for the 2017-2021 framework to respond to the changing environment and reposition Caritas Ghana and its partners to focus.
