Dr. Eric Kwatiah, Chairman of the awards celebration of the Archbishop Andoh Education Endowment Fund, has urged the Catholic community to commit to actions that will benefit future generations, emphasizing that the sustainability of the educational support scheme depends on collective sacrifice.
Speaking at the awards ceremony held at Ashiaman on Saturday , November 29, 2025, Dr. Kwatiah shared an anecdote of an elderly man planting a mango tree, not for himself but for those who would come after him.

He said the story reflects the very purpose of the Education Endowment Fund, which was established to ensure that young people, many of whom the founders would never meet, receive opportunities to pursue their dreams.
“This is why we are here today. What are we contributing to the generations to come?” he asked, noting that society today enjoys the benefits of scientists, innovators, and leaders who toiled without necessarily seeing the fruits of their labour.

Dr. Kwatiah recalled how the late Archbishop Dominic Andoh instituted the fund decades ago, long before modern technological conveniences, and said his foresight continues to yield results as students across the archdiocese benefit annually.
“We are beneficiaries of all that was done. But what are we doing to ensure that future generations will benefit from this educational fund?” he challenged the audience.

He noted that the world is becoming increasingly competitive, making education indispensable for survival and progress.
He further encouraged parishioners, stakeholders, and benefactors not only to participate in the annual fundraising but to continue contributing regularly and sharing ideas that will strengthen the fund’s long-term impact.
Dr. Kwatiah expressed gratitude for the progress made but stressed that sustaining the fund requires ongoing commitment.

“As we leave here, let us ask ourselves: what am I impacting to the generations to come?” he said.
The event formed part of the fund’s 30th anniversary celebration, which recognized brilliant but needy Catholic students across the archdiocese of Accra.
