POGA Tema Relaunches Drive to Revive Alumni Activities

Must read

The Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) has called on all Old Girls of OLA Girls’ Senior High School in and around Tema to reunite and rebuild the Tema branch, following years of disrupted activities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Tema Community, *Mrs. Ruby Martha Tawiah*, POGA Global 1st Vice President and Tema POGA President, said the visit was part of efforts to “revive our activities in Tema.”

She recalled that before the pandemic, the Tema branch alternated its meetings between St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. “We resorted to having our meetings online after COVID-19,” she said.

“Since then, our membership has gone down due to the break and some of our members relocating.”

POGA Global comprises Old Girls from Ghana, the UK, and North America, the latter group known as POGANA.

Mrs. Tawiah paid tribute to the late Mrs. Florence Ayivor Attachie, popularly known as _“Mama POGA”_, for her role in the Tema branch.

Invoking the renewal of the Holy Spirit, since the day marks Pentecost Sunday, she urged: “As the Lord has sent down his Holy Spirit on us, may he renew the membership of POGA, Tema branch.” She encouraged all ladies to get on board to make the branch a great one.

She added that the reunion should “bring all POG’s in and around Tema together and involved in building a legacy for our Alma mater” and help Tema become “a formidable force to reckon with among the various regional chapters.”

The appeal marks POGA Tema’s renewed push to reconnect members and strengthen alumni support for OLA Girls’ SHS.
