Fiapre: Catholic Youth at St. Peter’s Parish Organise  Evangelization Float

Must read

As part of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani’s ‘Year of the Youth, 2026’ activities, the Parish Youth Council (PYC) in collaboration with the Brass Band & Cultural Troupe of St. Peter’s Parish, Fiapre Bono Region of Ghana organised a vibrant missionary initiative called Evangelization Float.

The Saturday, May 23, 2026, event was on the theme; “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel.” — Mark 16:15.

It was aimed to bring the Gospel to the streets of Fiapre through music, placards, and personal engagement.

This initiative aligns with the theme for this year’s Youth in the Sunyani Diocese: “Catholic Youth on Mission: Youthful, Empowered, and Sent.”

The youth gathered at the forecourt of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Fiapre during which Seminarian Amoako Frederick led the opening prayer, establishing a spiritual tone for the journey.

Participating groups included representatives from Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Baakoniaba, Our Lady of Charity Catholic Church, Fiapre West, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Airport Residential Area, Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Kantro, and Holy Spirit Parish, Nkwabeng.

Under the supervision of officers from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service, the youth marched from the church premises to the Fiapre Toll Booth, Fiapre Market, and the UENR roundabout, accompanied by a brass band. During the procession, the youth displayed placards with powerful messages, including:

– “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel.”

– “Christ is our hope, our peace, and our salvation.”

– “With Mary, we bring Jesus to the world.”

They also distributed printed evangelism messages on stickers to people they encountered along the way and took the time to engage with them by sharing the Gospel.

The participants, numbering approximately 90, returned at 9:03 AM, high in energy, and engaged in aerobics and indoor games.

The event concluded with a community service clean-up exercise around the church.

Many lessons were learned through the public demonstration of faith, which reminded the community that the Church is alive and active beyond its walls, making the Gospel message more accessible. Spiritual work is seen to be most effective when paired with physical exercise (such as aerobics) and social service (such as clean-up). Catholic Youth on Mission! Youthful! Empowered!! and Sent!!!
