“We Are Called Not Only To Profess Our Faith But To Demonstrate It Through Our Conduct” – KSJI Ghana President

Must read

Major General (Engr.) Sir Joseph Charles Osei, the Supreme Subordinate Commandery President of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and Ladies’ Auxiliary, Ghana, has emphasised that members of the Order must live out their Christian faith through integrity, fairness and responsible action.

He made the remarks in an interview with Newswatchgh.com, following the upcoming first edition of the St. John the Baptist Memorial Lecture, scheduled for 13th October 2026, at the Christ the King Parish Hall in Cantonments, Accra.

He said, “As members, we are called not only to profess our faith but to demonstrate it through our conduct. This means acting with integrity, treating others fairly, and speaking up responsibly when justice and the common good are at stake.”

The theme for the St. John the Baptist Memorial Lecture is “Speaking Truth to Power: Upholding Justice, Morality & National Accountability.”

According to Maj. Gen. Sir Osei, it is the duty of members of the Order to serve their communities, speak truth to power and “encourage those in positions of responsibility to be accountable.

He explained that the theme aligns closely with the organisation’s core pillars of Church, Community and Fraternity, adding that KSJI members are expected to put these values into practice and “uphold integrity, justice, and accountability wherever they serve.”

The Supreme Subordinate Commandery President linked the call for practical faith to the example of the Order’s patron saint, St. John the Baptist, who spoke truth at great personal cost.

He said, “I hope this lecture will inspire our members, leaders, and citizens to follow the example of our patron saint, St. John the Baptist, by standing courageously for truth, justice, and accountability. While I cannot speak for everyone, I believe the theme will encourage us to reflect on our own responsibilities and the example we set.”

The lecture will feature distinguished Christian and Muslim leaders, underscoring the shared commitment of both faith communities to truthfulness, justice and the common good.

“Many Ghanaians take part in religious life, yet we must also live out our values in our homes, workplaces, and public institutions. This lecture offers an opportunity for Christian and Muslim leaders to encourage that consistency and to promote a society in which people of all faiths act with integrity and serve the common good”, he noted.

He urged KSJI members and the general public to attend the lecture, take part in the discussion and share the lessons learnt as a practical demonstration of their faith.
