The 1st Edition of the St. John the Baptist Memorial Annual Lectures on 13th October, 2026, in Accra is set to promote Truth, Justice and Accountability in Ghana.
The Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and Ladies’ Auxiliary, Ghana will hold the lecture at the Christ the King Parish Hall in Cantonments, Accra.
According to Major General (Engr.) Sir Joseph Charles Osei, Supreme Subordinate Commandery President of the Knights of St. John International and Ladies’ Auxiliary, Ghana, the initiative was inspired by the Order’s three pillars of Church, Community and Fraternity.
He explained that these principles require members to contribute to national development beyond serving the Catholic Church and its members.
“When I assumed office as Supreme Subordinate President, I reflected on the role our organisation could play beyond the Church and our own membership… I believe these principles also call us to contribute meaningfully to the wider life of our country. That conviction has inspired us to speak on issues of national concern,” he said.
The lecture is themed, “Speaking Truth to Power: Upholding Justice, Morality & National Accountability,” which Maj. Gen. Sir Osei describes as members’ commitment to “acting with integrity, treating others fairly, and speaking up responsibly when justice and the common good are at stake.”

Maj. Gen. Sir Osei also noted that the lecture will draw attention to the need for public institutions to be strengthened and to fulfil their mandates effectively.
“Institutions such as CHRAJ and the Auditor-General play important roles in protecting rights and promoting accountability, and their work should be supported,” he added.
He described the inaugural lecture as the foundation for an annual platform that will address timely national issues.
“This first edition is particularly significant because it establishes a platform we hope to continue annually, addressing timely issues that matter to Ghana. We aim to make a positive contribution to national development and help build a country grounded in sound values, responsibility, and service,” he noted.

Maj. Gen. Sir Osei encouraged members of KSJI and the general public to put their faith into practice, describing the upcoming lecture as a worthwhile initiative.
“We can do this by being truthful, standing up for justice and acting accountably in our families, workplaces, and communities. I believe this lecture is a worthwhile initiative, and I encourage everyone to attend, listen, take part in the discussion, and share what they learn with others,” he said.
