The Parish Priest of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obeng Codjoe, has urged members of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra to faithfully embrace the responsibilities entrusted to them by God and allow their actions to reflect the life of Christ.
Delivering the homily at the society’s 2026 feast day celebration at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta, the priest reminded the members that they have been sent to serve as watch-women of their society.
“God has sent you to be watch-women of your society”, he said.

He encouraged members to discern God’s will before making decisions, stressing that failure to do so could lead them in the wrong direction and ultimately affect both individuals and the Church.
Fr. Codjoe also cautioned the faithful against comparing themselves with others, urging them instead to develop an attitude that reflects Christ.
In a passionate charge to the congregation, he called on members to cultivate an atmosphere of genuine love and mutual respect within the society and their communities.

“Allow love to flow among you”, he said, emphasising that active compassion and unity must serve as the bedrock of the society’s shared life and mission.
A central highlight of his message was a direct warning against backbiting and destructive speech. He therefore cautioned them to avoid gossip, which he identified as the major source of friction and division within faith communities.
Instead, Fr. Codjoe entreated members to intentionally protect each other’s reputations and foster trust.

They were also challenged to actively treasure one another rather than taking them for granted.
He further urged the members to remain united, stressing the importance of assembling in unity as they seek to grow in holiness and live out the spirituality of St. Theresa of Lisieux.
The celebration of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society of the Accra Archdiocese on Saturday, October 3, was held in line with the universal feast of St. Theresa of Lisieux, popularly known as the Little Flower, observed on October 1, bringing together members across the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra to honour their patron saint and renew their commitment to her spirituality.
