The Grand National President and First Accra Archdiocesan President of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society, Dame Obaapanin Gloria Peggy Kwasie, has called on Catholics to emulate the life of their patron saint through humility, charity, prayer, and simplicity.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Newswatchgh.com during the Society’s 2026 feast day celebration at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta, Accra, which drew thousands of members from across the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, Dame Obaapanin Kwasie noted that St. Theresa of the Child Jesus dedicated her life to God’s service and remains renowned for her deep humility.
She explained that the saint’s profound example continues to inspire Catholics to join the society and strive for personal holiness by imitating her way of life.
According to her, the annual feast day celebration provides an opportunity for members to honour St. Theresa, express their devotion, and renew their commitment to following her spiritual pathway.
Highlighting the growth of the organisation, the Grand National President noted that the St. Theresa Society in the Accra Archdiocese has flourished over its 28-year history, growing from a modest group into a widely recognised devotional society.
She further emphasised the society’s core mandate of prayer and outreach.
“If you want to serve God, you need to be active in prayer, charitable works, and simplicity,” she said, noting that the society remains steadfast in its dedication to serving the needy and fostering spiritual growth.
She concluded by encouraging members to pursue holiness not through grand gestures, but by doing ordinary, everyday tasks with extraordinary love – the hallmark of St. Theresa’s “Little Way.”
