West African Catholic Religious to Reinforce Networks to End Human Trafficking in Sub-Region

At the end of their 5-day Human Trafficking Workshop on Collaboration and Networking, Management of Diversity and Conflict in the fight against the menace, Consecrated Men and Women from Ghana, Nigeria and Burkina Faso who are members of “Talitha Kum” Networks have resolved to collectively work hard and together to strengthen their individual country networks.

The 25 participants who attended the Workshop in Accra, Ghana’s Capital City from June 1 to 5, also in a seven-point Action Plan resolved to improve intra- network communications and inter- network communication.

In their June 5 collective Action Plan, the participants expressed commitment to communicate to the Conference of Major Superiors in their various countries as well as “hold regular online prayer sessions to pray for an end to human trafficking.”

According to them, they are poised to hold online network meetings of the “Talitha Kum African network, mark with common activities International Days related to human trafficking and continue to network in responding to cases of human trafficking across the countries.

The Workshop on human trafficking was organised for “Talitha Kum” members in Ghana, Nigeria and Burkina Faso and some lay Collaborators who work to combat human trafficking.

It was organised by the Ghana Network of “Talitha Kum” known as Consecrated Persons Against Human Trafficking ( ConPAHT- Talitha Kum Ghana), coordinated by Sr. Olivia Umoh, DC, Director of Safe-Child Advocacy in Ghana’s Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi.

The Workshop was aimed at focusing on how the members can collaborate and network, Management of Diversity and Conflict as well as bring them together to fight the menace of human trafficking

It was also to sensitise and conscience the Consecrated Men and Women and the lay Collaborators into the fight of human trafficking on how to deal with menace through effective networking. The workshop is to strengthen collaboration and networking among members of the network from the three West African countries.
